Looks like I, like Karl Rove, thought more of the GOP's chances than what existed. Oddly enough, liberal skewing and kinda faggy Nate Silver pretty much nailed it. But, you know, Democrat operative and all that.
The Democrats gain in the Senate and hold the presidency, while the House remains solidly GOP. Depending on the recount in Florida, Obama will win with 303-332 electoral votes and a 50% share in the popular vote.
The easiest take away is that abandoning large demographic groups, like women and Latinos, is no longer possible in the United States electoral math. Romney won the white vote by significant numbers, and lost everywhere else. The GOP is already spinning that it's those very same groups that were 'bought', but the reality is that a party that endorses and supports rape apologists and enshrines anti-choice and anti-gay policies in their party platform faces a natural deficit to overcome.
To my own personal amusement, Fox News is decrying the 'media bias' in the election, proving that irony is not dead.
