So, here's my question. One of the dominant themes regarding this election is that this is the END OF TIMES one. For Conservatives, this is the last chance to 'take back their country' (and what kind of unlying overtly racist fuckery is that, eh?) and stop the destruction of the America that they love. So, assuming that the Kenyan Antichrist is re-elected, what exactly is he planning to do to usher in a thousand years of darkness?
Well, the US isn't going to be bankrupt or turn into Greece. While the recovery is modest, the underlying economic trends are very strong. Unemployment is slowly receding, gains are being made in industries that were flattened in 07-08, and the US ecomony is inching back to pre-recession levels. In fact, the vaunted austarity programs of Europe are currently taking the blame for the EU's inability to bounce back as quickly as the US.
Considering there have been two mass murders this summer without a word about gun control, I'd say the NRA has been effective in making sure that taking away your guns isn't on the super secret agenda. Only the terminally stupid or obnoxiously partisan actually believe that the Democrats are socialists or communists (and if you argue me on this, I'm just blocking your comments. There are sheer levels of brainless ignorance that even I can't tolerate).
The US is out of one war, winding down the second, and assuming Obama is re-elected, isn't going to put the invasion of Iran on John Bolton's to-do list. So I don't see a major war on the horizon.
So, really, what is this end of America you're seeing? Healthcare? I suppose there's a sort of cowboy swagger to bankrupting people for getting sick and all that, but it's not going to turn you into the Soviet Union overnight. There's forty million people living in close proximity looking around and wondering what happened to the police state that we're supposed to be living in because of our single payer health care. Maybe it's all that gay marriage we have up here. We're too busy marrying turtles to get our oppression on.
Personally, I see Obama around 294-303 EVs, because I'm pessimistic about Florida and its Lex Luthor stand-in for a governer, and Colorado is so violitile this year that it could go for Gary Johnson at this rate. So, in this scenario, having built this up into the tipping point in history for the great American Experiment, what do you do on Nov 8th if you wake up to Obama's second term on the books?
Anyone?
