Mary Prankster was brilliant, as was Mekong and Air. There is some very interesting things in Voltaire and Lemon Jelly, and I'm still working on St Germaine.
Right. There are 110 of you reading this. I expect one song/band suggestion from each of you, telling me what I should be listening to now. Have at it.

If you like a cappella and humor, I definitely suggest Da Vinci's Notebook, although I don't know how you might get any of their music except by their website, or maybe downloading off of Kazaa or the like. If you like swing, I recommend a group called Indigo Swing.
Discovery from the Bowie Concert.
Much happiness to be had.
Re: Discovery from the Bowie Concert.
I also think they should do a tour in Australia very soon, but that's probably just wishful thinking...

Try "The New Sound" first.
Caught in retro
otherwise, I listen to damn near everything. Except Country and Western, Rapcrap and hip-hop, and I refuse to go near the "Happy Christian" stuff.
I like my angsty heavy metal stuff, TYVM

The Distillers. Brody Dalle [nee Armstrong] is an amazing young force with a raw gravel voice and an unapologetic style. They've got some really good songs even if you don't like hard punk [style varies across a whole album].Shaiyela

Oft-incoherent screaming: Finch, "What It Is To Burn"
Mellow techno-ish: VNV Nation, "Legion"
Jazz-ish stuff: Yoko Kanno, "Knock A Little Harder"
Drinking song: The Refreshments, "Mekong"
Instrumental: Hans Zimmer, "Leave No Man Behind" from the Blackhawk Down soundtrack.
Modern pop: Matchbox 20, "Downfall"
Should keep you busy.
Fly-by-night posting...
Recommended band for the month to everyone - Manau. Not only do they manage to be French and Not Crap, which is a pretty impressive result in itself, but they're also French and Not Pretentious, which is doubly impressive.
It's also worth having some of their stuff in your collection just so you can say "I listen to French celtic rap music" with a straight face.
