Wow. For a guy that is already getting hammered as a rich out of touch plutocrat who only cares about funneling more money to the rich, the choice of Ryan as his running mate underscores it and bolds the fuck out of that message. Ryan's proposed budget calls for massive cuts in education, Medicad and foodstamp programs while lowering tax rates for the wealthiest Americans. It also downloads the costs of many services to the municipal levels, knowing full well that it will be those local governments that will have to take responsibility for either cutting the programs or raising taxes to support them. It will also swap Medicare over to a voucher based system for people qualifying for it by 2020.

In short, it's a conservative fantasy on steriods.

This is what I don't get. Romney's only chance is to fight this campaign on economic terms. He's compromised because of his lack of transparancy on his taxes. Now, he's nominated a guy who guarantees that the debate is going to be on Medicare, which is a fight the GOP cannot win. The GOP has to hope that the voter registration issues in Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Florida are a coordinated effort to steal the election, becuase I can't see how Ryan does anything but hurt their chances. The Democrats are going to hammer on Medicare for the next three months, and unlike with Romney's taxes, there is no way out. This is a budget that the fucking Vatican called unnecessarily cruel with Ryan's name on the cover.

I really don't think this was Romney's pick. I think Ryan was all but forced on him. Otherwise, it's the most inept move yet by his campaign managers.
