I cook a lot. Mostly because I enjoy it and have way too much time on my hands. I like to think I've got a bit of talent, and I try and push my own boundaries with recipes and techniques that I've never tried before. Which sometimes makes for some very interesting dinner choices here at home.
However, a lot of what many people consider basics, I've never done before. Case in point; tuna casserole, the ubiquitous staple of North America classic home cooking. Last night, I made my first ever tuna casserole, after two decades of cooking for myself. It strikes me as odd, like having never made spaghetti or meat loaf before.
Makes me wonder what basics are out there that I've never even considered making for one reason or another, and that I'll kind of stumble across in the future...
