As a request for people to switch the subject of their stories and write more of what you're interested in, though, it comes off as wankily as you're suggesting others are being.

You know what I'd like to see? Everyone try something new. A new genre, set of characters, atmosphere, or plot that they've never done before.It's hard to get that in fanfic, since people are writing because they're fans. But wouldn't you love to read just some bizarre new fics, with people trying mystery and suspense, sci-fi, comedy… branching out to other characters. Playing in new sandblocks. A renewal for everyone. Who knows, but some people might find something new that they like.
I never demanded or expected anyone to play in my sandbox. I opinioned that they should play outside their own from time to time. As well, your statement Yes, you were commenting on the predomination of one form of fanfiction (romance/relationship), and bemoaning the lack of another (action/adventure/plot-driven). is incorrect. I was commenting on the predomination of one form of fanfiction to the exclusion of all others.
And finally, of course, my admittedly snarkilicious comment was simply meant to ask, does that apply to your own rather strident historical posts in favor of non-ship, plot-heavy fic?
Your statement of 'non-ship' is in error. In that post, I called for fic with plot, meaning and narrative beyond merely the relationship itself as the sole single note, again a very different thing. But that is neither here nor there.
Have I committed the crimes above in the past? Absolutely. But I'm not planning to keep doing them, and hopefully some of the hacks might just learn a thing or two from this.
