Mixed Tape
Jul. 16th, 2010 04:24 pmPrediction: The Sharktopus film will remain a tragically misunderstood piece of creative genius for a long time before being recognized for the paradigm changing art it is. This will likely involve the French at some point.

Realization: I never quite realized how much my last job fucked me up, especially concerning elements like job security. I recently was involved in a pretty big error on an RFP that resulted in us missing the deadline. This is a big no-no in my industry. Now, there were all kinds of mitigating circumstances and my error was compounded by a lack of support which really hurt us in this case.
Anyhow, upshot is that after over a year of highly successful work, including massive overtime and praise from every corner of the company, I still spent this week convinced I was going to be fired over this. More than a little gunshy still.
Update: BP capped the oil spill, but that's not the only leak hurting them. They recently admitted to lobbying the government on releasing or trading Lockerbie bomber Al-Megrahi in order to preserve a $900mil oil and gas exploration contract in Libya. His release was based on compassionate grounds as he had only 3 months to live from advanced prostate cancer... or did he? The veracity of that diagonsis has been challenged strongly, especially considering Al-Megrahi is still alive.

Obstinate: There's a question meme running around that involves fruit or something. I shall not ask or answer questions. In fact, I'm planning to provide answers for people and make them come up with the questions that would need to be asked to illicit that response.
Completion: Finished DA:O: Awakenings recently. Good addition, although I think they realized that half the players only cared about the background banter for the characters and spent their time on that. Mhairie's death was so telegraphed that you might as well have tattooed 'dead woman walking' on her forehead, and the sheer weight of specialized high level gear was a little disappointing. In the entire playthrough, I got my whole party killed once, and only three fights actually took more strategy than 'point Oghran at enemies and race after trying to get a kill of your own'. The writing basically saves it from being a waste of money.
The Future: How long before this photo becomes the base for a thousand captions?
