dexfarkin: (Riches)

More like 'flat out like Dex drinking and working and not sleeping and then working more and want more drinksNOOOOOO!GIVEITBACKNOW!'

Yeah, it has been a seriously fucking long week already, and it's Tuesday. *sigh* My mantra is 'remember how much you hate being unemployed' in order to get through... day 23 of consecutive work.

I had the bizarre experience last number of sitting at the bar, watching the game and chatting with the bartender, while a friend of mine had a date behind me and a couple of tables over. It is a really strange feeling to know that there is a barrier (call it, what, the 'bro barrier') there in interaction because the last thing you want to do is impinge on the date, and yet, you have to tamp do your normal reactions to comments and such in order to avoid stepping in it. I mean, normal guy behaviour in this situation is to stay away and support your friend, or wander by making small talk about whether or not he got that STD cleared up this week; there is no middle ground in male friendships. Instead, I listened to the bartender be catty and complain about the two men she's not seeing, but really is. Or something.

Those are the nights I feel very, very old. Like the raptor said; 'Yurgh'.

Took [livejournal.com profile] ferox to see Eddie Izzard for our anniversary. Lots of fun, and in a venue I love: Massey Hall. Massey Hall is one of those great old piles of a venue, with slightly fading seats but an atmosphere that just reeks of funny shows, good concerts and no pretension. Obviously, I haven't entirely lost it yet, being able to sneak down at intermission for the washroom and to buy a couple of beers in less than fifteen minutes. Anyone who's ever been in this venue knows that timeline requires bending the space/time continuum.

Right, back into the coal mines.
