For I am a writer, or at least play one on television.
The last year has been one of my best creatively, my worst productively, and my strangest technically. I have a thousand ideas a second these days, and very few of them copy other writers any more.
The young writer's syndrome: you read something brilliant, go to write, and end up with a pale imitation of something brilliant. In fact, so pale as to be complete and utter crap. Have stopped doing that. Now, I will make my own original work to be complete and utter crap. And then get elected Bhudda.Over the last year, I completely lost the technical skills to put together a story. In fact, for a wonderfully bleak period around Christmas, I could only write in cliche. There was almost a kind of fragile poetry to the horribly stilted conversations, patchworked movie staples and hack lines. I'm slowly coming out of that, which I believe was a highly specialized stroke. Composition slowly returning, stylic nuances re-emerging, and I virtually never write "That's the job, man. Deal with it." any more.
Production wise, I have CivIII. I shall deny thee now.
What am I working on?
Good question. I see one of you was paying attention.
My story for SMUT PEDDLER 2 was completed. It's a funny love story about condoms and masturbation. If you haven't bought a copy yet, you hate me and deserve one of those flesh eating viruses on your genitals. Go to saucygoosepress.com and buy one. Save your genitals while there's still time!
I got my beta back for the SPIRALFIRE short story collection. All six changes that are required... might actually do a full re-write just to make things difficult. I'm well under 5000 words in any case. For those of you who actually read this journal, the story is an expanded version of a short I did in this journal here:

MS JESUS is back in production again, abet slowly. If all goes well, I'll have a complete script by Christmas for Ashlan, and we can start to do art development. If everything works out jobwise, then for next summer, I;ll be putting together financing to actually put the thing out. This is my big back burner project right now.
I have fic. Believe it or not. I have about another week's worth of writing to do on a FIREFLY piece, and then I can dump it to Lise. Doqz and I must be getting close to an end on our BUFFY story. It's a one-line joke that passed forty pages thus far. FOYK and RAZOR are back in production, and I'd like to finish both in the next six months. Basically, just trying to clear out the last of the deadwood from my computer so I can really focus on new and original projects.
Three articles written and need to be sent to rith to take a look at. Step one in exploiting friends and associates. A submission letter to Marvel that needs to be betaed before being sent. A really neat multimedia idea that I had, but requires a lot more money than currently available: interactive media storytelling using drawn, photographed, computer generated/modified and filmed media in sequence. I actually have most of the people I'd need already in mind. Now, if someone just had $15000 that they don't care if they'll ever get back, we're a go.
Novel roughs that require me to tear ideas from Ramiel's living brainmeat with my teeth. That's scheduled for next week.
My house is empty, my days are finally free again. Time to get back to fucking work.
