The usual post New Year's update on writing. Yeah, it's a yawn but needs to be done.

First off, I have a ton of things to do, and likely no where near the time to do them in. Secondly, my writing style has taken now as a good time to mutate, and hasn't ripened into the new form yet, leaving me lurching along, Igoresque, through each new line. Large projects like RAZOR and MANY SHADES OF NUDE have gone on the backburner because I'm constantly stuck rewriting the new sections. Everytime I think I've got it, the ideas twist in my head and the whole session ends up confused and murky. Trying to write too much in too little, mostly. Hopefully that will fix itself.

It feels very strange to no longer have THE SUM OF ZERO hanging over my head. Because it was my first 'major' piece in fanfiction, bu also my most intricate and lengthy, the fact of not having it to turn back to is a little jarring. A sort of phantom itch in fanfic tones.

The third chapter of RAZOR is on its way, slowly but surely. Mostly the pacing is proving the problem. Having to synch it with the rest of the work and make sure it gets the plot far enough along is the important part, but there's a lot of development in the characters as I've alluded to in the first two sections that I have to deal with. On top of that, the technical complexity of the situations are requiring ten times the research I had anticipated. I could bluff through a lot of things, but I'm a detail junkie, and even if everyone bought it, I'd still have issues. So, I sit and grind my way through Army Research, executive powers, medical school and the best place to get shitfaced in Washington DC.

PHOENIX BURNING is almost ready for beta, lacking only Victor Von Doom and a few edits first. Another one that I can't seem to get around to finishing up, but there's no real rush. I'm considering waiting until I have at least five of the eight stories done in BEYOND-X before I start posting. We'll have to see how good my self-control is.

Somehow, a bunch of strange ideas jumped into my head, and I'm plotting a follow up to HEELS BRITANNIA. No real details yet, but it involves John Constantine, Rupert Giles, and Lord Fanny, wrapped up in a magical mystery that is both tied into their pasts as rather irresponsible mages, and the present with the witch-magus Willow. I have some rather ugly ideas, with a lot of extremely weird-edged magic ideas across the range of comics. The working title is FALL ON YOUR KNEES and, just to keep Doqz happy, Philip De Coucy will make a return.

So, that's the temporary update. No doubt it will bear no resemblence to what I finally do produce.
