Icons

I have come to the conclusion that I do not have the right mind sense for icons. I'm not talking about the technical side. I've actually got a ridiculously out of date certification in Photoshop, you know.

No, I speak of the remarkably skewed mindset in finding images and twisting them into a small encapsulated moment. I just can't do so consistently, not in the same fashion that others do. For example, there's a big meme going around about 'ask me about my icons'. Now click on my icons to view them.

The Mystery of the Redheaded League it ain't.

Seriously, my icons are ridiculously narrative. Icons of television shows because, well, I like them. A couple of comic ones because, well, I like them. I'm an eclectic, creative person with a quirky sense of humour until I hit icons... then I become a FOX news advertiser. I'm also extremely bad at remembering to upload icons. I still have one from Nute I need to put up.

*sigh* Actually, I'm just completely burnt at work right now, and this was the best I could come up with for a topic to distract me.

I'm always kind of amazed at what people come up with. I guess it's the same feeling they try to describe when watching someone sketch or write effortlessly. Seeing an icon with an image that is perfectly captioned that never in a million years could I have come up with...

I love coming up with sayings for icons, but I suck at the Photoshopping of them. I'd rather have people do that for me, but every now and then I do make my own... like this one here.

Some people have the knack. I wonder where it is they find the images, sometimes; other times, they're right in front of you, but it just didn't occur. Again, I barely look for icons; I'll get a batch from a movie or whatever, the ones that come the closest to what I think I need-- and find out later that I wasn't actually very close.

[livejournal.com profile] sevenall has these great icons of Asian women, making it occur to me, again, that I don't have a single black chick amongst mine (well, there's one, but it hasn't fit anywhere just yet, which is still the same thing). I'm half-assing it, is what I figure.
